Kendal man charged with numerous offences

A man has been charged with numerous offences in connection with a burglary and fire at St George’s Church in Kendal.
Jeffrey Hayton, aged 52, of New Road, is charged with following offences:
· Burglary with intent to cause criminal damage
· Theft of a wheelchair
· Attempted arson with intent to endanger life
· Criminal damage
· A public order offence.
The first three offences relate to incidents at St George’s Church on 26th February. The criminal damage relates to a bible at Kendal Police Station and the public order offence relates to offensive material written on a caravan on 7th February.
Hayton will appear before South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court today (28th February).
