Woman shot in Willesden terror raid arrested on release from hospital

A woman who was shot in a police terror raid in Willesden has left hospital and has been arrested under the Terrorism Act.

The woman was hit by gunfire when armed officers entered a property in Harlesden Road, shortly before 7pm on Thursday evening.

The 21-year-old, who was among a number of people under investigation, was wounded during the operation and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service.

No others were injured.

On Sunday, the woman was discharged from hospital but was immediately held on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of terrorist acts under section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

She has been taken to a police station in south London for questioning.

Six others have been arrested as part of the same investigation, including a 21-year-old man in Harlesden Road, a 43-year-old woman in Kent and a 20-year-old women, a 16-year-old boy, a 28-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman at the same address in Harlesden Road.

Extensions have been granted to the period of time the suspects can be held, with all currently in custody in south London police stations.

The Metropolitan Police said the address in Harlesden Road had been under surveillance by anti terror officers for some time.

Two other properties in London have also been raided as part of the inquiry.

The Met Police’s Directorate of Professional Standards is investigating the shooting.

The detentions are not related to the arrest of a man in central London’s Whitehall at 2.20pm on Thursday, following a stop and search.
