Woman, 23, stabbed to death at Holiday Inn hotel is named by police

Written by on 07/07/2020

A 23-year-old woman who was stabbed to death at a Holiday Inn has been named as Khloemae Loy.

Scotland Yard identified the woman on Monday evening following the incident at the hotel in Greenwich, southeast London, shortly after 10am on Sunday.

Ms Loy was found with serious injuries and declared dead at the scene.

A post-mortem found she had died from a single stab wound to the neck, police said.

A man in his thirties – who officers believe was known to Ms Loy – fell from a height at the scene and is in a critical condition in hospital.

He has been arrested in connection with the incident and detectives have launched an investigation.

No one else is believed to have been involved at this stage.

The hotel’s general manager Umar Khattak, 38, said the man and woman had checked in on Saturday.

He said many guests had called the hotel about noise coming from a room.

Police were called and officers moved all guests out of the fifth floor, Mr Khattak said.

Photographs shared on social media showed a broken window on the fifth floor of the hotel.

A jogger who passed the scene said emergency services had been gathered on a ledge on the second floor.

The hotel has been open to NHS staff at the nearby Nightingale hospital during the pandemic, but from Saturday it was opened to the public.
