West Yorkshire: Man arrested after woman dies following ‘altercation’

A man has been arrested after a woman died following an altercation in Halifax.
Police were called at 2.16am on Sunday to Silver Street after reports of an incident which left a 26-year-old woman unconscious.
She was taken to hospital for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead a short time later.
West Yorkshire Police said a man, also aged 26, was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
Forensic experts were at the scene in the town centre, and detectives have begun inquiries.
A post-mortem was due to be conducted today.
