WATCH: Castleford prepares for Super League Grand Final
Written by News on 04/10/2017
Grand Final fever has hit the town of Castleford ahead of the Tigers’ eagerly-anticipated clash with Yorkshire rivals Leeds Rhinos on Saturday, live on Sky Sports Arena from 5pm.
Cas are appearing in their maiden Betfred Super League Grand Final after an outstanding season which saw them claim the League Leaders’ Shield and finish 10 points clear of second-placed Leeds.
A sell-out crowd is expected at Old Trafford and Castleford’s businesses have gotten caught up in the hype, with a local butcher selling Shenton shanks of pork, Tiger burgers, and Snozzer sausages.
Castleford have won their last eight games against Leeds, including four this campaign, but the Rhinos have emerged victorious on their last six Grand Final appearances.
"Can Castleford handle the pressure?" asked Sky Sports pundit Phil Clarke in his weekly column.
"Most of the Castleford crowd won’t have seen their team in a game as big as this before and you could sense their anxiety during that incredibly tense semi-final with St Helens.
"However, if I’m asked to tip a winner, then the season began with a convincing win for the Tigers – and I think that it will end that way too."
