Kash Ali: Heavyweight boxer who bit opponent during fight is suspended

Heavyweight boxer Kash Ali, who was disqualified for biting opponent David Price during their bout on Saturday, has been suspended pending a hearing.
The British Boxing Board of Control announced it has suspended Ali’s boxing licence, with the case to be heard by the organisation’s Central Area Council on 13 April.
Price, 35, accused Ali of biting him on multiple occasions during the all-British contest at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena.
After the fight was called off by the referee in the fifth round, Ali, 27, admitted to iFL TV he had been “stupid”.
Price was ahead on the scorecards when he rocked his former sparring partner with a big right hand in the fifth round on the previously undefeated Ali.
Both men ended up grappling and as the pair fell to the canvas, Ali landed on top of the Liverpool fighter and subsequently bit him under the ribs, while wearing a gum shield.
Price told referee Mark Lyson: “He bit me”, and, once back on his feet, showed him what appeared to be a sizeable bite mark on the left-hand side of his rib cage and was photographed pointing at it.
Ali, who could now face a lengthy ban from the sport, was officially disqualified by the official for biting and was pelted with drinks thrown by fans as security staff escorted him out of the venue.
His purse, thought to be around £20,000, was withheld, minus expenses.
Price revealed Ali asked him for a rematch, but he insisted: “I don’t want to share the ring with an animal like that.”
Biting is extremely rare in professional boxing.
One of the best-known incidents occurred in 1997, when Mike Tyson bit off part of the ear of Evander Holyfield in another heavyweight bout in Las Vegas.
In one of the few precedents in Britain, middleweight Adrian Dodson was banned for 18 months in 1999 after being found guilty of biting opponent Alain Bonnamie.
Former heavyweight and fellow Briton Tony Bellew told Sky Sports Ali “is a disgrace for what he’s done… “Biting a man on the floor? There’s not many things lower.”
“His bottle went… “He did some disgusting things that have no place in a boxing ring,” Bellew said.
