GP Titus Bradley ‘shot himself and his girlfriend after row’ in Cape Verde

Written by on 27/04/2018

A NHS GP reportedly shot his girlfriend dead and turned the same gun on himself following a “terrible argument” at a guest house in Cape Verde.

The bodies of Titus Bradley, 42, and partner Noemi Gergely, 28, were found on the western island of Santo Antao on 17 April, with local officers treating their deaths as a murder-suicide.

Dr Bradley and Ms Gergely, who are said to have enjoyed going on fishing trips together, had checked in at Divin Art – in the town of Ribeira Grande, near the northern coast – two days before.

Police said both had died of single bullet wounds to the head, fired from a pistol, following reports of a heated argument.

Guest house manager Helder Bentub said: “There was a terrible argument. They were in their room but we could hear shouting and the banging of doors and windows.

“They came out of their room and went to the restaurant and argued again. The woman told one of our staff that her companion had hit her.

“We heard the shots ring out a couple of minutes later when they were both back in their room. We found them lying dead in the bathroom after forcing our way in.”

Police said the couple were believed to have been living on a fishing boat or yacht in the marina of Sao Vicente, another island of Cape Verde, for at least three months before they checked in at the guest house.

Dr Bradley had reportedly left the UK a year ago, shortly before Sussex Police launched an investigation into staff pay and pension money going missing from his four practices around Hastings in East Sussex.

He had been expected to return from his fishing trip in Santo Antao after three weeks, but never did.
