Bristol: Boy, 14, arrested after 17-year-old is stabbed to death

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested after a 17-year-old male was stabbed to death in Bristol on Saturday.
A murder investigation has been launched after the victim was found with a stab wound to the chest in Bedminster shortly before 1.30pm.
The 17-year-old was taken to hospital but died a short time later.
Police said on Sunday that a 14-year-old boy had been arrested in connection with the stabbing.
A post-mortem examination and formal identification of the victim will take place at a later date.
Specialist crime scene investigators examined Mansfield Street on Saturday as well as an address in Parson Street where the assault took place.
Avon and Somerset Constabulary said in a statement: “We’ve launched a murder investigation after a teenage boy died following an assault in Bristol yesterday.
“A 17-year-old boy was found with a stab wound to the chest on Mansfield Street, Bedminster, shortly before 1.30pm.
“The boy was taken to hospital but tragically died a short time later. His next of kin have been informed.”
Detective Inspector Phil Walker, of the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: “We’re carrying out a full investigation into what is clearly a very tragic incident.
“Our thoughts are with the boy’s family as they come to terms with their loss and specially trained family liaison officers will be providing them with support.
“We believe this is an isolated incident involving people known to each other.
“A 14-year-old has been arrested in connection with the incident and he is also being provided with the appropriate support while he remains in custody.”
Mr Walker added: “Should anyone have any concerns about this incident I encourage them to contact their local neighbourhood team or visit their local police station.”
