Birth certificate shows baby Archie’s birthplace and Meghan’s job

Written by on 18/05/2019

The Duchess of Sussex gave birth to baby Archie in a private hospital, his birth certificate has confirmed.

The document put to rest speculation of the location of the birth as many had suggested the Duchess had planned to remain at home in Frogmore Cottage.

Meghan was listed on the document as “Rachel Meghan Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex”, and gave her occupation as “Princess of the United Kingdom”.

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, who is seventh in line to the British throne, was welcomed into the world on 6 May, weighing 7lb 3oz.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had initially been secretive of the details surrounding the birth in a bid to maintain their privacy.

Prince Harry registered his son’s birth on Friday, and revealed that the arrival took place at the private Portland Hospital in Westminster.

Archie’s birth came less than a year after his parents were married in a glamorous ceremony at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.

The couple will be celebrating their first anniversary this Sunday.

While housekeepers and aides will still surround the family as normal, Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, are keen to give their new son a normal childhood out of the limelight.

At 12 days old, Archie has already completed several rounds of royal meetings, having met his great grandparents, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, and his uncle and aunt, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

He has also spent time with his maternal grandmother Doria Ragland.
