Train derails in Aberdeenshire – emergency services at the scene

British Transport Police are responding to a train derailment in Aberdeenshire.
In a statement, the force said: “Officers were called to the scene at 9.43am and remain there alongside paramedics and the fire brigade.”
Footage posted on social media showed smoke billowing from the scene in Stonehaven.
A number of ambulances and a medical helicopter were pictured parked in a field.
ScotRail said they were “assisting the emergency services with an incident near Stonehaven and will provide more information when available”.
Thunderstorms had caused flooding across Aberdeenshire on Wednesday, prompting the cancellation of rail services and the shutting of some schools.
