The Dude abides: Bridges teases fans with Lebowski hint

The Dude abides.

Jeff Bridges has teased fans with an apparent return to his cult character as he reprised the cult the role in a clip shared on Twitter.
The actor shared a clip with the comment “Can’t be living in the past, man. Stay tuned.” on Thursday evening.
The video shows Bridges dressed as Jeffery Lebowski, also known as the Dude walking through what appears to have been a rough night, turning to the camera and laughing as he looks over his sunglasses.
It then cuts to tumbleweed blowing past a red carpet and shows the date ‘2.3.19’.
The date will immediately be recognised by American Football fans as the next Superbowl.
Although fans will hope Bridges has reunited with the Coen brothers for a new film, it could simply be a teaser for a Superbowl advert.
Commercial slots during the football game are big business and companies spend a fortune making sure theirs are memorable.
In 2017, Bridges was asked about a sequel to the 1998 film and told Digital Spy: “If they want to do a sequel, I’m sure it’d be a cool thing and like so many masters of their craft, they make it look like I was just rolling off lines. He’s just a silly stoner.”
Earlier this month, Bridges said he would be “lucky” if he was always associated with the Dude, during a Golden Globes speech as he received the Cecil B DeMille award.
Fans welcomed the return of the Dude on Twitter. One said: “not all heroes wear capes. some have been wearing the same ratty cardigan for the past 21 years.
Another said: “This teaser is really pulling the room together.”
Some were less convinced, guessing there may just be a commercial in the works and not a feature length film.
That’s just, like, your opinion, man.
