Written by on 15/11/2018

A teenager has been charged after three adults and one child died in a car crash in Sheffield.

Adnan Ashraf Jarral, 35, and his son Usman, one, were killed when Mr Jarral’s Volkswagen Touran people carrier was hit by a Volkwagen Golf which was being pursued by police in Sheffield last Friday.

Another couple who were in the Touran, Miroslav Duna, 50, and his wife Vlasta Dunova, 41, also died.

Two brothers Elliot Bower, 18, and Declan Bower, 23, were remanded in custody after appearing at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Now police in South Yorkshire have charged a 17-year-old in connection with the crash.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with aggravated vehicle taking and death caused by an accident with aggravating factors. He is also charged with possession of cannabis.

Police said three other injured people who were in Mr Jarral’s Touran remain in hospital.

Nikola Dunova, the 22-year-old daughter of Mr Duna and Ms Dunova, remains in hospital in a stable condition. Her daughter, aged three, Livia Matova, is also in hospital, in a critical condition.

Mr Jarral’s wife, 32, is also being treated in hospital. On Sunday, Mr Jarral’s uncle, Shafqat Mirza, said she was being treated for a broken leg, back injuries and minor facial injuries.

He told Sky News on Sunday his nephew was a “unique character, very humble, very polite – he was full of life and devoted to his sons. He would do anything for them”.

“He was always taking them out on trips, shopping, fun fairs… he was very, very close to his kids.”

He also revealed Mr Jarral and his wife had been planning a trip to Mecca later this month.

The Bower brothers are due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 10 December.

Elliott Bower is accused of drving the WV Golf and charged with four counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

He is also charged with handling stolen goods and possession of cannabis.

Declan Bower is charged with aggravated vehicle taking and death caused by an accident with aggravated factors.

He is also charged with handling stolen goods, two counts of driving while disqualified, two counts of driving without insurance, possession of a bladed article and possession of cannabis.

South Yorkshire Police referred themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct after the crash, as one of the vehicles involved was being pursued by officers.
