Teenager arrested after mother stabbed in front of son, 5, in Manchester

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested following the attempted murder of a woman in front of her young child, police in Manchester have said.
The victim, 24, was stabbed as she was walking with her five-year-old son on Rudheath Avenue, Withington, around 1.30pm on Saturday.
She was taken to hospital with knife wounds and is in a stable condition, police said.
Paramedics assessed her son at the scene, but he had no visible injuries.
Following a police investigation, the teenager was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Police say they are not looking for anyone else in relation to the attack.
Detective Inspector John Robb said: “This was a vicious attack in which a woman was stabbed in front of her young son. Our thoughts are with her and her family as she recovers from this shocking ordeal.
“I would like to reassure the public that this is believed to be an isolated incident and we are not currently looking for anyone else in relation to this attempted murder.”
