Stranger Things actor David Harbour has confirmed he will officiate the wedding of one of his fans after her cheeky request for the star to perform hosting duties garnered a huge response on Twitter.

The 42-year-old, who plays the charismatic police chief Jim Hopper in the Netflix show, was asked by Twitter user @ErickaElizabth: “what would it take to get [him] to be the Officiant at my wedding in September?!”.

Harbour, known for replying to some fans on social media, said if the post reached 125k retweets, and provided the dates worked with the shooting schedule for the third season of Stranger Things, he would do it.

“I get to read an esteemed love letter of my choosing, and after the cake is officially cut, I get the very first piece,” he added.

The post was retweeted almost 130,000 times in less than 24 hours.

“Dammit. Not even 24hours. You’re kidding me,” Harbour said on Twitter after seeing the response.

He then told the fan to get in touch via direct message on the site to make arrangements.

“DM me please to get the ball rolling. I’m making it seriously hard next time, internet, this is not over between us…”

The announcement prompted many users to suggest Harbour should take them as a plus one to the wedding, but the star has not commented on that campaign so far.

The actor is currently shooting the next Hellboy movie, replacing Ron Pearlman who starred in the originals directed by Guillermo Del Toro.

The remake will be helmed by film-maker Mike Mignola, and has a release scheduled for early next year.

There is no official release date yet for the third season of Stranger Things, but it is likely to be out toward the end of 2018.
