Bay Trust Radio has been recognised for their response to the COVID-19 pandemic as part of the 100 Thank Yous campaign by The Cumberland Building Society.

The Cumberland embarked on a campaign to find 100 people across the region who symbolise the extraordinary response they have seen during the COVID-19 crisis and invited the public to nominate people, organisations and groups.

John Williamson, Station Manager, said: “Our volunteers are absolutely delighted to be included in the 100 Thank Yous campaign. It has been a strange and difficult few months and our team has worked tirelessly to overcome the challenges brought from the pandemic and keep our service running – often from their own homes.”

“At the peak of the pandemic we continued to provide a service with news, information and updates whilst also launching projects aimed at helping patients in hospital stay connected – it was a huge team effort and all of the team are so proud of what we have achieved.”

Bay Trust Radio is run entirely by volunteers and provides a local radio service for South Cumbria, North Lancashire and the Fylde Coast.

The station broadcasts online and can be heard on this website, free apps and smart speakers. Patients can listen inside our local hospitals for free using bedside entertainment systems or our donated iPads. NHS staff can also listen from their laptops or desktops.
