Star Wars: Episode IX director Colin Trevorrow quits

Writer and director Colin Trevorrow has "parted ways" with the producers of Star Wars: Episode IX.
Lucasfilm said Trevorrow would not be working on the movie franchise’s next instalment due to "differing visions".
A statement on the official Star Wars website said: "Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on Star Wars: Episode IX.

"Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ.
"We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the main source of friction between the two sides was over the script, with Trevorrow being made to re-write it several times.

The publication also said that the relationship between him and Lucasfilm’s boss Kathleen Kennedy was "unmanageable".
She had tried not to lose another director, however, it added.
In June, directing duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller were replaced.
Lucasfilm – now a subsidiary of Disney – decided to sack the men behind the new Han Solo spin-off, halfway through production.
According the studio, Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s comedic tones weren’t in line with the vision Lucasfilm had for the franchise.
Star Wars: Episode IX, starring John Boyega, is due for release in 2019.
