Kawhi Leonard scored 41 points as the Toronto Raptors handed Washington a heart-breaking double-overtime loss ahead of the Wizards’ trip to London to face the New York Knicks,.

Toronto Raptors 140-138 Washington Wizards (2OT)

Serge Ibaka’s three-pointer with 15.2 seconds remaining lifted the visiting Toronto Raptors to a 140-138 double overtime win against the stubborn Washington Wizards on Sunday.

Washington rallied from 19 points down in the third quarter to force overtime and took a 138-136 lead on Thomas Bryant’s short jumper with 31.8 seconds left in the second overtime.

Kawhi Leonard missed on a drive on the ensuing possession but got his own rebound and passed out to Ibaka who hit from 28 feet. Washington’s Otto Porter Jr then missed a three-point attempt and Toronto’s Danny Green added a free throw with 2.8 seconds left.

With no timeouts, the Wizards were unable to get off a final shot.

Leonard registered 41 points and 11 rebounds for the Raptors, who have won five straight to improve their NBA-best record to 33-12. Pascal Siakam had 24 points and 19 rebounds before fouling out.

Bradley Beal overcame a poor start to finish with 43 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds for Washington, who trailed by 23 points in the first half.

Porter finished with 27 points and Trevor Ariza added 23 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds.

Beal made it 116-112 with a three-pointer with 4:30 to play in regulation, then cut the Raptors’ lead to 120-118 with another triple with 2:01 to go.

Leonard sandwiched two baskets around a Beal free throw to make 124-119 with 1:14 left, but Porter hit a floater, Leonard missed on the other end, and Beal corralled a long rebound and hit another triple to tie the score for the first time all day with 20 seconds remaining.

Both teams missed would-be go-ahead baskets and regulation ended tied 124-124.

In the first overtime, two free throws by Leonard made it 131-129 with 1:00 left in the first overtime.

Washington won a jump ball with 16 seconds left in the frame and Beal missed a three-point shot. But the ball went out of bounds to Washington and Beal drove the lane to tie it with 6.8 seconds left at 131-131.

The second overtime period was tightly-contested before Ibaka’s late three proved decisive.

Philadelphia 76ers 108-105 New York Knicks

Ben Simmons recorded 20 points, a career-high 22 rebounds and nine assists as the visiting Philadelphia 76ers never trailed, survived a shaky second half and extended their winning streak over the New York Knicks to seven games by holding on for a 108-105 victory on Sunday.

Simmons finished with his 28th double-double this season and finished just shy of his eighth triple-double.

Joel Embiid returned from missing Friday’s loss to Atlanta due to a sore right ankle and led the 76ers with 26 points while adding eight rebounds and a season-high six blocked shots.

JJ Redick added 13 of his 22 in the fourth quarter while Jimmy Butler contributed 16 as the Sixers shot 46 per cent and outrebounded the Knicks 56-34.

Rookie Kevin Knox scored a career-high 31 points but the Knicks lost for the 17th time in 19 games and dropped their eighth straight home game. Reserve Luke Kornet tied a career-high 23 points while Emmanuel Mudiay added 19 as the Knicks shot 43 per cent.

The Knicks played without Enes Kanter (flu-like symptoms) and Tim Hardaway Jr sat out with a hamstring injury, though he was listed as being active.

The Sixers led by 24 late in the first half but the lead was down 83-82 entering the fourth quarter. After Philadelphia scored the first 11 points of the fourth to take a 94-82 lead, the Knicks were within 96-94 on a three-pointer by Knox with 3:02 left but Philadelphia were able to make enough plays to hold on for the win.

A three-point play by Embiid pushed Philadelphia’s lead with about two minutes left to 101-94 and a three-pointer by Redick as the shot clock expired made it 104-96 with 68 seconds remaining.

The Knicks were within 108-105 when Damyean Dotson made the first two free throws after being fouled by Embiid on a 3-point attempt and intentionally missed the third.

The game ended when Mudiay grabbed the offensive rebound and missed an off-balance three-pointer.

Long before they survived the shaky finish, Philadelphia sprinted to a 17-6 lead less than five minutes in and held a 66-50 lead at half-time.
