Sir Elton John has told an audience in Verona, Italy, that he is “sick to death of Brexit”.

The 72-year-old British singer – on his last-ever world tour – added that he was “ashamed of my country for what it has done”.
Brexit had “torn people apart”, he added.
“I am a European,” he told fans in the northern Italian city. “I am not a stupid colonial imperialist English idiot.”
He also said he was “sick to death of politicians – especially British politicians”.
It is not the first time he has criticised the decision to leave the European Union.
Last July, he said he did not think voters “were told the truth to start with”.
He added: “I don’t think they knew exactly what they were voting for. They were promised something that was completely ridiculous and wasn’t economically viable. And then it’s got so complicated now I just don’t know what’s going on.”
In an interview with Channel 4 News, he compared Brexit to “walking through Hampton Court maze blindfolded, being turned around 16 times and trying to find your way out”.
