Time’s Up head Lisa Borders quits as son accused of sexual assault

The head of the Time’s Up movement, Lisa Borders, has stepped down after her son was accused of sexual assault.
Four months after being appointed, Ms Borders said she was leaving her job as president and chief executive officer to “address family concerns”.
Time’s Up is an anti-sexual harassment movement which was founded after allegations of inappropriate behaviour were made against Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.
The organisation said Ms Borders informed it last Friday that “sexual assault allegations had been made against her son”.
It added: “Within 24 hours, Lisa made the decision to resign as president and CEO of Time’s Up and we agreed that it was the right decision for all parties involved.
“All our actions were fully guided by our support for survivors.
“Time’s Up unequivocally supports all survivors of sexual harassment and abuse.”
Ms Borders, who was unveiled as Time’s Up’s first president in October, is a former executive at Coca-Cola and the Women’s National Basketball League.
Speaking to Sky News before she stepped down, Ms Borders said the movement would be keeping a close eye on gender balance at this year’s Oscars.
“Historically they have not done enough,” she said.
“Let’s see what they do this year. We’d like to give them a shot. We will give them the opportunity to display what they value, and to the extent they do not value women, they will hear from us.”
