Al Pacino says he has ‘perverse’ habit of starring in bad films

Al Pacino says he is getting “a little perverse” and developing “a bad habit” of starring in bad films.
The star of such classics as Scarface, The Godfather and Dog Day Afternoon told GQ magazine that he has signed up to star in films and play roles which are “not adequate” – but believes his involvement might improve the movie to make it “mediocre”.
Speaking in the joint interview alongside Robert De Niro, his co-star in the upcoming Martin Scorsese movie The Irishman, Pacino said: “I may be falling into a bad habit now.
“I think I’m starting to get a little perverse. I’m starting to want to do films that aren’t really very good and try to make them better.”
He continued: “Sometimes they offer you money to do something that’s not adequate. And you talk yourself into it.
“And somewhere within you, you know that this thing is gonna be a lemon…. you say, ‘If I can just get this to be a mediocre film,’ and you get excited by that. “
Pacino’s recent efforts include a lead role in thriller Hangman, which scored just 5% on movie review site Rotten Tomatoes and 5.2 out of 10 on on IMDb.
He also starred alongside Adam Sandler in comedy Jack And Jill which got 3% on Rotten Tomatoes and 3.3 out of ten on IMDb.

The Son Of No One, an action movie, fared better, getting a rating of 16% on Rotten Tomatoes and 5.1 out of 10 on IMDb.
In comparison, The Godfather was awarded 98% on Rotten Tomatoes and 9.2 on IMDb and Scarface had a rating of 81% on Rotten Tomatoes and 8.3 on IMDb.
