Sharon Stone blocked on Bumble dating app because users thought her account was fake

It seems as though even Hollywood stars are not immune to receiving disappointing messages on dating apps.
Actress Sharon Stone has shared her own tale of woe, revealing that she found herself locked out of Bumble because other users could not believe her account was genuine.
The Basic Instinct star was greeted with a pop-up telling her she had been blocked after “several reports about your profile being fake”, and posted the image on Twitter to raise awareness of her unlikely plight.
Stone, 61, tweeted: “I went on the @bumble dating sight (sic) and they closed my account. Some users reported that it couldn’t possibly be me!
“Hey @bumble, is being me exclusionary? Don’t shut me out of the hive!”
Many people seemed stunned that the Oscar-nominated actress, who has appeared in the Hollywood films Casino, The Quick And The Dead, Sliver and Total Recall during her career, genuinely had an account on the app.
Dating services like Bumble and Tinder are inundated with fake profiles posing as famous stars and models, and sceptical users had likely reported her profile in their droves.
Some of her followers tried to take advantage of her dismissal from Bumble, with one replying: “Damn that’s so crazy I knew there was a reason we hadn’t matched yet haha but we’re here now so…”
Others seemed bemused that a celebrity like Stone, who rose to global fame thanks to her role in Basic Instinct, appearing opposite Michael Douglas in the erotic thriller, would want to use a dating app.
“Imagine scrolling through Bumble and matching with Sharon Stone,” tweeted a disbelieving Rob Wong, while broadcaster India Willougby reflected on a possible lifetime of dating regret.
“Horrible feeling I may have rejected advances from real George Clooney, Johnny Depp and Bradley Cooper,” she said, with regretful emoji in tow.
Thankfully for Stone, Bumble was made aware of the issue and her account has been restored.
Its editorial director Clare O’Connor tweeted: “AHA! @sharonstone, we at @bumble found your account, unblocked you, and ensured this won’t happen again. You can get back to Bumbling!
“Thanks for bearing with us and hope you find your honey.”
