Rory McIlroy and Jason Day to do battle in unique golf challenge in London

Written by on 24/07/2017

Rory McIlroy and Jason Day will hot-foot it straight from Royal Birkdale to London on Monday to play a unique team-based challenge – and you can watch it live via our free stream on Sky Sports.

We’ll be bringing you up close and personal with two of golf’s biggest stars, who are teeing up as captains of two teams of 10 young golfers in a competition which puts the emphasis on speed, swagger and skill.

The event, to promote Nike’s Aeroreact and Italian polo shirts which are being worn by the pair on the links this weekend, will see the two golfing greats lead teams in the challenge.

Each side will fire shots from a unique driving range against the backdrop of London in order to score points by hitting a variety of targets, including giant balloons.

Sky Sports will be there to broadcast the event, which can be accessed for free, on skysports.com, the newly-relaunched Sky Sports app and Sky Sports Facebook page.

Sky Sports’ golf expert Henni Goya and Seb on Golf will present the unique event, titled Nike Golf Club LDN, which will also include a special Sky Sports Golf Masterclass with McIlroy and Day.

The Nike Aeroreact polo, which four-time Major champion McIlroy is wearing at Birkdale, is designed to be extremely versatile so that golfers and fans can wear it both on and off course.

Day, winner of the 2015 PGA Championship, is sporting the Italian polo shirt at The Open this week. It has been custom made in Italy specifically for the 29-year-old and has, according to the manufacturer, been inspired by his love of sportswear and fashion.

Additionally, the @SkySportsGolf Twitter account will carry exclusive behind-the-scenes coverage of the event, which starts at 2.15pm on Monday.
