‘Relaxed’ Theresa May shows off Dancing Queen moves – again

Written by on 14/07/2019

Theresa May has let her hair down by throwing some shapes to ABBA classics – including Dancing Queen.

The prime minister was spotted boogying to the hit – her walk-on song at last year’s Conservative Party conference – as performed by a tribute band at Henley Festival on Saturday.

She had been spotted in the grandstand, enjoying the music and dancing to other numbers including Mamma Mia and Take A Chance.

It was a busy weekend for the outgoing Tory leader, who had already that day been at Wimbledon to see the women’s singles final.

She then headed to Lord’s to watch England take on New Zealand in the final of the men’s Cricket World Cup on Sunday.

One observer at the festival gig told Sky News Mrs May “looked very relaxed”.

“If anyone deserves to let their hair down it’s Theresa May,” Jeremy Cuthbert tweeted.

“[She] took on the impossible job out of duty not power trip and couldn’t have put in more effort.”

Mrs May’s moves became a subject of media focus after she twice danced in front of the cameras on a trip to South Africa and Kenya last summer.

In a nod to the media reaction, she boogied her way on stage to Dancing Queen at the Conservative Party conference in Birmingham later that year.

Mrs May has a little over a week remaining as prime minister before handing over to either Boris Johnson or Jeremy Hunt, the two remaining candidates in the contest to replace her.
