Real Madrid have not thought about signing Harry Kane, says Florentino Perez

Written by on 24/10/2017

Real Madrid have not thought about signing Harry Kane, club president Florentino Perez said on Tuesday.

Perez said even if he was to consider making an enquiry, Tottenham would value Kane at around £220m, which would be a world-record transfer fee.

"Signing Harry Kane has not passed through my head. He is a great player and in addition he is young," Perez told radio station Cadena COPE on Tuesday.

"He has many years to progress, but we are delighted with [Karim] Benzema and with all of the team.

"I didn’t ask Tottenham’s president [chairman, Daniel Levy] for the price because he would have told me that he [Kane] is worth €250million."

Benzema has contributed just one league goal this season as part of a misfiring Real attack, while Kane has scored 17 times in 16 games for club and country this campaign.

The 24-year-old’s form has lead to speculation he could join Real Madrid in the future, following in the footsteps of Luka Modric and Gareth Bale to have made the switch from north London to the Bernabeu in recent seasons.

Speculation was fuelled further last week when Real’s former president Ramon Calderon said he expected the club to try to sign Kane to extend their current cycle at the summit of European football.
