Premier League to launch hall of fame – but who should be in it?
Written by News on 27/02/2020
The Premier League is to launch an official hall of fame, with the first two footballing greats to be inducted next month.
Players of “exceptional skill and talent” who have graced the top tier of English football since the Premier League’s inception in 1992 will be recognised – so long as they have retired.
The Premier League’s new chief executive Richard Masters said only the “very best” would have a place in the hall of fame, adding that it would be an opportunity to “look back over the years” and “celebrate some truly exceptional playing careers”.
The first two inductees will be announced at a special event on 19 March, alongside a shortlist of additional nominees that fans can vote on for future inclusion – but until then their identity will remain a mystery.
Ahead of the real vote, Sky News has compiled a list of possible contenders – so who do you think deserves a place in the hall of fame? Tap or click on the player of your choice.
