A panicking couple were saved by a police officer who helped safely deliver their baby boy on the side of a motorway.
The traffic officer was flagged down at junction seven on the M62 in Merseyside on Tuesday by concerned couple Lisa and Peter, whose baby was not waiting for anyone.
The officer helped to successfully deliver the baby.
Mother Lisa and baby Clarke were then escorted to hospital, where both are said to be doing well.
Merseyside Police’s roads unit tweeted about the unusual stop for its officer, named only as MC18, saying they were in need of tea and biscuits after the incident.
They tweeted a picture of three of their traffic cars outside the hospital.
North West Motorway Police also tweeted, saying the mother and baby were escorted by the Merseyside Traffic Police’s vehicles to the hospital.
