Pearl Jam to return to London as part of European tour

Written by on 02/12/2017

Nearly a decade after last touring the capital, Pearl Jam have announced two massive London gigs.

"Hail, hail the lucky ones" who manage to grab a ticket to see one of the longest-running grunge bands on the planet.

Eddie Vedder, Mike McCready, Matt Cameron, Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard will start their European tour in 12 June 2018, just a couple of months after finishing their South America tour.

It’s good news for fans who had hoped the band would return to European stages after four years "in hiding".

Pearl Jam celebrated a quarter century of existence in 2015 and, with 12 studio albums so far, they show no signs of slowing down.

Earlier this week the band revealed their first new song since 2013, part of a collaboration between Pearl Jam and Pakistani musician Sain Zahoor.

Obey The Law Of the Heart will be released as part of the soundtrack to the upcoming romantic comedy Basmati Blues, starring Brie Larson and Donald Sutherland.

Last year, they were inducted into the Rock’n’Roll Hall Of Fame, introduced on stage by their long-time fan and friend David Letterman.

"Every time they were there, they would blow the roof off the place," Letterman said, remembering the many times hey performed on his Late Show.

"For two years I did a show without a roof on the damn theatre."

Together with Soundgarden, Nirvana and Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam made the so-called Seattle Sound one of the most iconic rock movements of all time.

Pearl Jam will play London’s O2 Arena on the 18 and 19 June next year.

Tickets for the shows will go on general sale at 11am on 8 December.
