NHS apologises to victims of infected blood scandal

The NHS has apologised “unreservedly” for the contaminated blood scandal that caused the deaths of almost 3,000 people.
“Things happened that should not have happened, and so on behalf of my clients, I say unreservedly, that we are sorry,” the lawyer for the Department of Health and Social Care told the public inquiry into the tragedy.
“We are sorry that this should be so, that this happened when it should not have done.”
