Neil Lennon set to be confirmed as Celtic interim manager until end of season

Written by on 27/02/2019

Neil Lennon will be confirmed as Celtic interim manager until the end of the season, Sky sources understand.

The Northern Irishman held talks with the Scottish champions on Tuesday after Brendan Rodgers was granted permission to speak to Leicester City about becoming their new boss.

First team coach John Kennedy will be promoted to assistant manager with Damien Duff moving up from reserve team manager to join Lennon’s backroom staff.

Lennon will attend a press conference at Celtic Park on Wednesday morning ahead of the Premiership game against Hearts at Tynecastle later that evening, live on Sky Sports Football.

Former Celtic captain Lennon previously managed the club between 2010 and 2014, winning three Scottish league titles and two Scottish Cups.

After leaving Celtic he spent 16 months in charge of Bolton before returning to Scotland to take over Hibernian, who he led to promotion from the Championship in his first full season.

Lennon left Hibs by mutual consent last month but will make a quick return to Easter Road on Saturday for Celtic’s Scottish Cup quarter-final tie.
