N-Dubz rapper Dappy ‘attacked woman with tennis racket’

Written by on 11/05/2017

Former N-Dubz rapper Dappy has been arrested after reportedly hitting a woman in the face with a tennis racket.

According to The Sun, the 29-year-old singer was hauled off the woman by four students, who called 999 after the incident in front of his family home in Hatfield, Hertfordshire.

The newspaper said the rapper was armed with a knife, and threatened to stab police officers, shouting: "I’ll stab the Old Bill in the face."

Police said they received a call on Wednesday afternoon reporting an incident involving a 29-year-old man and a woman.

"The man threatened the woman before leaving the scene. It is believed he had a knife," they said.

They said the man was arrested "on suspicion of assault ABH and possession of an offensive weapon in a public space" and was taken into custody for questioning.

"I only saw the aftermath," a neighbour said.

"There was an incident, a guy and a woman. Three or four students came to her aid. Ten police cars turned up outside and they were out there for getting on a hour," he added.

"At one point there were three or four armed police men standing at the door with one of them shouting instructions through the open door. One went in with two backing him up and one on the driveway was crouching behind a car."

Dappy, real name Costadinos Contostavlos, is best known for being the lead singer of the now-defunct grime trio N-Dubz, alongside his cousin Tulisa Contostavlos and DJ Fazer.

He has two children with girlfriend Kaye Vassell and is known for his frequent run-ins with the law.

In 2008 he pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and one year later was taken off a flight for disorderly conduct.

In 2011 he was arrested by police after being accused of assaulting his partner but was later released without charge.

In 2013, he was given a six-month suspended jail sentence for starting a brawl at a petrol station and, one year later, he was convicted of punching a man at a nightclub in Berkshire.
