Murder investigation launched after 16-month-old girl dies in east London

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a 16-month-old girl.
The infant died in hospital on 17 September after falling ill four days earlier.
She died from a head injury, according to a post-mortem examination at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital.
A man, 36, was arrested on 14 September on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and has been released on bail until mid-October.
Police are currently not releasing the girl’s name but have said her next of kin have been informed.
Officers said she was from the E13 postcode area of London, which is manly made up of the Plaistow area in the east of the capital.
