MP takes ‘Sack Northern’ petition to Downing Street

This afternoon South Lakes MP Tim Farron handed over the first 5,000 signatures to 10 Downing Street calling for Northern to be removed from operating the Furness and Lakes Lines.

Tim was joined by the chair of the Lakes Line Rail User Group Robert Talbot who has worked alongside Tim on the campaign and was key to getting the current interim services provided by West Coast Railways off the ground.

Tim said: “I’m massively grateful to everyone who has signed up to the campaign.  Train services on the Furness and Lakes Lines have been massively affected by Northern’s incompetence.

“Local residents know that when Transpennine operated services along the line they were much more reliable.  We need to ‘Sack Northern’ and replace them with an operator that cares about our local train services.”
