Meet a well-known author in a Lancashire library

A Lancashire born and bred classic mystery and thriller fiction writer will visit four libraries this month.
Nick Oldham, now a prolific crime writer, became a Lancashire police officer at 19-years-old. He retired from the constabulary in 2005 to concentrate on writing full-time.
The author is particularly famous for his 25 Henry Christie crime novels. The first of these books was published in 1996 while Nick was still a serving police officer, to be followed by a further seven in the series before he left his Inspector rank.
He is also the author of the Steve Flynn series of books.
At the talks, Nick will share some experiences from his time in the police force and how it inspired his writing. Nick will also talk about his books and speak with visitors.
County Councillor Peter Buckley, Lancashire County Council’s cabinet member for community and cultural services, said: “These promise to be really interesting events.
“Nick is very well-regarded and is a very popular author. I’m sure that his talks will be very interesting.”
Born in Belthorn, Nick now lives in Preston.
It is free to attend the events at each of the libraries, but tickets are limited and must be booked in advance.
The events will take place as follows:
Eccleston Library on Friday 5 October at 2pm
Fulwood Library on Thursday 11 October at 10am
Adlington Library on Monday 15 October at 2pm
Thornton Library on Monday 29 October at 2.30pm
