Mayweather vs McGregor: Robert Byrd confirmed as referee

American Robert Byrd has been selected as the referee for Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor.
The judges have been confirmed as Burt Clements, Dave Moretti and Guido Cavalleri, as chosen by the Nevada State Athletic Commission at a hearing on Wednesday.
Las Vegas-based Byrd refereed Mayweather’s 2013 unanimous decision victory against Robert Guerrero.
Mayweather’s most recent three fights, and his pro debut 21 years ago, were overseen by Kenny Bayless who was not considered as the referee for next weekend’s fight due to critical comments.
Notably, Byrd has refereed Andre Ward’s first win against Sergey Kovalev, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’s win over Miguel Cotto and George Groves’ unsuccessful challenge of Badou Jack.
McGregor’s request for an international judge, reported by Sky Sports last week, was granted with the inclusion of Italy’s Cavalleri.
