Mayweather vs McGregor: Floyd Mayweather dismisses Conor McGregor’s predictions of KO win

Written by on 24/08/2017

Floyd Mayweather gave a dismissive response to Conor McGregor’s predictions of an early knockout and questioned his opponent’s punch resistance at the final press conference.

The 40-year-old American intends to end his career with a 50th and final victory when he faces UFC star McGregor in Las Vegas this weekend, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

As he prepares for his first ever professional boxing bout, McGregor has vowed to tarnish Mayweather’s legacy with a swift stoppage, but the five-weight world champion reminded the Irishman about the 49 other opponents who had fallen short.

"I’m taking it extremely serious," Mayweather told the watching media. "I know one thing that I can do – I can fight! I can give it, and I can take it.

"To be 49-0 I’m not receiving it, I’m giving it.

"He’s a hell of a fighter, a stand-up guy, a tough competitor. It’s going to be blood, sweat and tears."

Both fighters have agreed to wear eight ounce gloves and Mayweather suggested that McGregor will also be forced to feel his punch power.

"After 21 years, I’ve been hit with everything and I’m still here," he added.

"One thing about me, I’ve got a granite chin. Remember this, the same way you give it, you have to take it."

Watch Mayweather vs McGregor, from the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, from midnight August 26, live on Sky Sports Box Office. Book via your Sky remote or online here.
