Mark Jordon: Emmerdale star accused of biting pensioner’s face and thumb

Written by on 30/07/2019

Emmerdale star Mark Jordon bit a man’s face and thumb during a fight after a comment was made about his daughter, a court has heard.

The former Heartbeat star, 54, is accused of affray, unlawfully wounding 68-year-old Andrew Potts and assault by beating of Mr Potts’s partner Rosalind O’Neill.

Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court heard Jordon, who plays Daz Spencer in the TV soap, allegedly attacked Mr Potts on 1 July last year.

The altercation followed an argument outside the Farrars Arms in Oldham, where the actor had been celebrating his engagement to co-star Laura Norton.

The prosecutor said Ms O’Neill insulted Jordon’s daughter by talking about her sex life.

After hearing the remark, the lawyers claim an intoxicated Jordon approached the couple and began to argue.

CCTV footage played in court showed the actor being held back from Mr Potts.

The court heard Mr Potts punched and kicked Jordon, who was left with a bloody nose.

Mr Potts was taken away from the pub, but was allegedly followed by Jordon in a taxi and confronted again.

Prosecutors claim mobile phone footage captures the moment before the actor bites Mr Potts in the face and thumb, as well as allegedly pushing Miss O’Neill over.

After being arrested, Jordon told police during his interview that Mr Potts had called his daughter a “s**g”. He said he was going home in the taxi but spotted the couple walking back towards the pub and was concerned.

Jordon denies the charges against him.

The case continues.
