Manchester City players celebrate Premier League title win in local pub

Written by on 16/04/2018

Manchester City players chose to celebrate their Premier League title win in a local pub with their faithful supporters on Sunday.

Captain Vincent Kompany, Kyle Walker, Fabian Delph, John Stones and Bernardo Silva were among those who sang City songs with fans at a pub near Hale station in Altrincham.

City sealed a first title under Pep Guardiola after rivals Manchester United lost at home to West Brom, and captain Kompany told Sky Sports immediately afterwards that he was preparing to “go and meet the lads”.

Silva filmed himself and Stones singing in the car on the way to the Railway pub, and chants of “championes, championes” could be heard inside after Kompany gave a speech to the congregation, ending by saying: “Tonight, we won it again, so let’s celebrate together! Come on!”

The group then sang the popular Kolo and Yaya Toure song, as glasses were raised to their third Premier League trophy since the club was bought by the Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008.

Guardiola, who sealed his seventh league title across three clubs in nine years of management, was playing golf with professional Tommy Fleetwood as the trophy was decided.

Other City players were abroad on their few days off, with Leroy Sane watching Borussia Dortmund’s defeat at Schalke in Gelsenkirchen. Most put celebratory posts on their social media throughout the evening.
