Manchester City agree to pay Rodri’s Atletico Madrid release clause
Written by News on 18/06/2019
Manchester City are in contract talks with Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri after agreeing to pay his £62.5m release clause.
The midfielder was given a week to decide his future after City and Bayern Munich indicated that they would be willing to meet his buyout clause and has opted to leave Atletico.
Sky Sports News reported earlier this month Rodri was City’s top midfield target as they seek competition, and an eventual replacement, for Fernandinho.
Diego Simeone wanted to keep the former Villarreal player, who made 34 appearances for the club this season after joining last summer for £22m.
