A 21-year-old man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with murdering his ex-partner and her mother.
Janbaz Tarin is accused of killing Raneem Oudeh, 22, and her mother Khaola Saleem, who was 49. He is expected to face trial next March.
They both died of stab wounds outside Ms Saleem’s home in Solihull in the early hours of 27 August.
Tarin, from Sparkhill, made his second court appearance on Tuesday, speaking only to confirm his name during the 20-minute hearing at Birmingham Crown Court.
He was ordered to reappear at the court for a plea hearing in October.
Tarin’s trial has been fixed for 4 March and is expected to last for three weeks.
Ms Oudeh was married to Tarin under Islamic law and had a son, but Tarin was not the father.
Both victims were originally from Syria.
Last week, Ms Saleem’s brother-in-law said: “The family would like to express their sincere thanks for all the police are doing to bring justice for Khaola and Raneem.
“They would also like to thank the local Birmingham community and general public for their continued help and support.
“At this time, their hearts go out to their loved ones who had their lives so tragically cut short and especially to the young children they left behind.”
