Written by on 27/05/2019

Police have charged a man and a woman with two counts of murdering two teenage boys at a house in Sheffield on Friday.

The woman has also been charged with three counts of attempted murder.

South Yorkshire Police said the man, aged 37, and the woman, aged 34, will appear at Sheffield Magistrates Court on Monday.

Officers were called to a semi-detached house in the Shiregreen area of Sheffield at around 7.30am.

The boys, aged 13 and 14, died after they were taken to hospital on Friday morning.

Four other children, aged 11, 10, three and seven months who cannot be named for legal reasons, were released from hospital on Saturday afternoon.

Police have given no indication about the nature of the incident, but have confirmed it was not a shooting, and said it was confined to the one property.

People living nearby saw more than a dozen police cars and four ambulances arrive on the tree-lined road, and an air ambulance landed in the grounds of a nearby primary school.

A spokesman said detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
