Paramedics and police were called at around 5.50pm Saturday(16th February) to Rawcliffe Street, to reports a 13-year-old boy had suffered a wound to his chest.
The victim was taken to Alder Hey hospital for treatment, where he remains and is stable. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Three teenagers were arrested a short time later.
It is thought at this time that all parties involved are known to each other.
We are now appealing for information and would like to speak to anybody who saw all or part of the incident.
Det. Insp. Alisa Wilson, of Blackpool CID, said: “An investigation is very much underway after a 13-year-old boy was stabbed. Thankfully he is recovering well but the outcome could have been a lot worse.
“We are now determined to piece together exactly what occurred and would ask anybody with information to contact us as soon as possible. The incident took place outdoors, in an area fairly close to the Promenade, so we believe there will have been people around at the time who saw something that could help with our enquiries.”
A 14-year-old boy from Blackpool has been arrested on suspicion of wounding and a 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, also from Blackpool, have been arrested on suspicion of affray. They all remain in custody.
Anybody with information is asked to contact us on 101, quoting log number 1324 of February 16th.
