Kevin Hart: Stars urge comedian to ‘stay strong’ after major car crash

Celebrities and fans are urging Kevin Hart to “stay strong” after he suffered major injuries in a car accident.
The comedian and actor, 40, was a passenger in a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda which crashed down an embankment in Malibu, California, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Following news of the crash, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who starred with Hart in Jumanji, posted a picture of the pair, urging him to “stay strong”.
In his post, he said: “Stop messing with my emotions brother. We have a lot more laughing to do together. Love you man.”
Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston, who starred with the comedian in The Upside, also posted a picture with the message: “Let’s all send him positive energy and healing thoughts. He’s a good human. Get well soon, brother. B.”
David Beckham, who appeared in a clothing advert alongside Hart, posted a snap on Instagram with the message: “Hey man stay strong and get better soon Love as always.”
Fans were also quick to rally to support the star, with #KevinHart trending on Twitter as people prayed for his swift recovery.
The car Hart was travelling in had been turning on to a highway when it crashed, according to California Highway Patrol.
Hart and a second passenger, 31-year-old Rebecca Broxterman, were well enough to reach his home nearby for medical attention.
However, the comedian and driver Jared Black, 28, both suffered major injuries and were later taken to hospital.
Police did not disclose the nature of Hart’s injuries but TMZ has reported that his back was hurt.
Mr Black was not under the influence of alcohol.
Hart, a father of three, is known for his stand-up comedy and roles in films such as Little Fockers, Ride Along, Central Intelligence, The Secret Life Of Pets and Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie.
The day before the crash he had posted a picture for his 78.8 million Instagram followers, of himself jumping into a swimming pool with the words: “Being home makes me happy… enjoy your weekend people. #LiveLoveLaugh.”
In December, Hart stepped down as host of the Oscars after tweets emerged in which he used homophobic slurs.
The decision came just three days after he had been named as host of the 91st Academy Awards ceremony.
Tweets originally posted between 2009 and 2011 resurfaced shortly after he was confirmed for the job, containing language offensive to the LGBT community.
The star’s response to the outcry attracted a further backlash, as he wrote on Instagram that critics should “stop being negative”.
However, in a tweet he did apologise “for my insensitive words from the past”.
