Joesph Parker offers Anthony Joshua 65 per cent in bid to make unification bout a reality

Written by on 22/11/2017

Joseph Parker’s camp have made a "final offer" of a 35-65 per cent split with Anthony Joshua for a heavyweight unification bout next year.

The New Zealander has been in negotiations for a fight against Joshua, the WBA ‘super’ and IBF champion, for weeks with Parker previously insisting he ‘deserves the respect’ of a fair deal before he will commit to the fight.

However, Parker’s promoter David Higgins has stressed that they are now ready to compromise in order to finalise an agreement.

He said: "We want an open book on revenue share.

"We have gone from 50 to 40 to 35 per cent of the net profit and are willing to take the fight next. It’s our final bottom line decision.

"We feel anything less is disrespectful or a disgrace. Given Joshua has two belts and Joe has one, a share of about two-thirds and one-third split seems natural justice.

"We want to make the fight happen, we are not all hype. It’s now up to Eddie and Anthony.

"There are no excuses … they can have 65 per cent of a very, very big pie."

Parker added: "AJ and I want to unify and they (the promoters) should make it happen.

"I’m happy my team is taking care of that. I’m staying in shape in case it happens."
