Jay and Silent Bob set to return with new VR series

Jay and Silent Bob are to return in a virtual reality (VR) series in the latest appearance for Kevin Smith’s cult characters.

The stoner duo first came to prominence in Smith’s micro-budget 1994 comedy Clerks and later cemented their place in popular culture in films including Mallrats and Dogma. They then headlined Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
Jay and Silent Bob VR is going to be a live-action comedy series written and directed by Smith, according to an announcement by STX Entertainment.
It will launch on the Surreal channel, an app for VR headsets which will be available in mid-2018.
The show itself will be shot from the point of view of Silent Bob, played by Smith himself, as he follows Jason Mewes’ Jay “through a string of idiotic adventures”.
It isn’t yet clear how the VR format will work, and how the filmmaker will utilise the medium’s potential for immersive experiences.
A new Jay and Silent Bob film has also been planned, alongside a third Clerks movie and a Mallrats television series.
