Jamie Lee Curtis reprises Halloween role

Written by on 18/09/2017

Jamie Lee Curtis is to revisit her role in the Halloween horror movie franchise, 40 years after making her debut in the original film.

Tweeting a photograph of herself in a setting evoking the movie, she wrote: "Same porch. Same clothes. Same issues. 40 years later. Headed back to Haddonfield one last time for Halloween."

The actress played bookish teen Laurie Strode in the 1978 picture, which follows the bloody escape of Michael Myers, a psychopath who spent his life in an institution after killing his sister.

The masked killer goes on to terrorise and murder people in his home town, with his sights set firmly on Laurie and her group of friends.

The reboot of the movie is scheduled for release on 19 October 2018, Curtis revealed.

John Carpenter, who directed the original, will executive produce the new film, working with Jason Blum who worked on recent horror hits Get Out and Paranormal Activity.

Director David Gordon Green, who worked on films such as Pineapple Express, co-wrote the movie with Danny McBride.

Carpenter announced the franchise would return this February, but had not revealed that Curtis would be reviving her character.

Ten films have so far been made in the Halloween series, with Curtis appearing in four, including the original that launched her "Scream Queen" career.
