‘I’ll take that as a no’: Short-lived Oasis reunion hopes appear to be over

Liam Gallagher appears to have put an end to any hope of an Oasis reunion just 15 hours after suggesting it should happen.

The former frontman of one of the biggest British bands of the 1990s and 2000s offered an olive branch to brother Noel via Twitter on Thursday night, telling him the pair should “get the BIG O back together and stop f****** about”.

“The drinks are on me,” he added, in a post that picked up 74,000 retweets and 209,000 likes.

But based on his Twitter activity on Friday morning, the response from Noel was not a positive one.

Liam tweeted: “I’ll take that as a NO then as you were LG x.”

He later told a critic who suggested his brother was “not as stuck for a big day” that he would have got the band back together “for nowt”.

Oasis made musical history with hits such as Wonderwall and massive outdoor shows at Knebworth before breaking up in 2009, with the brothers having endured a turbulent relationship since then.

In January, Liam claimed Noel was “desperate” to reform Oasis but that his brother’s wife was blocking the idea.

The following month, he said he no longer spoke to Noel – now with his band High Flying Birds – and labelled him a “clown”.

And last year, Liam criticised his sibling for not playing at the One Love tribute concert after the Manchester Arena attack, with their hit track Don’t Look Back In Anger having become a song of unity in the wake of the bombing.

Noel and the High Flying Birds did go on to perform at the arena’s reopening in September.
