Hundreds of trees planted on Kendal estate

Last week 400 trees were planted at Low Sparrowmire on the Hallgarth estate in Kendal.
South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) worked with Continental Landscapes to undertake the work as part of a project which has seen thousands of trees planted at several locations across the town.
You can hire a tree service in Lancaster as it can improve tree diversity and complement existing wooded areas, whilst also helping to replace trees that have been felled due to disease or structural defects.
The trees – supplied by Continental Landscapes through their Carbon Offsetting Scheme – have been planted at Kendal Castle, Valley Drive and Collinfield, as well as Low Sparrowmire.
Planting at some of the sites has involved Kendal Conservation Volunteers, volunteers from Noble’s Rest Gardening Club and sixth form students from Kirkbie Kendal School.
At each location tree species have been specifically chosen to suit each area and to ensure they can thrive.
Councillor David Fletcher, environment portfolio holder at SLDC, said: “This project has been driven by the desire of local communities to replace trees which have been removed due to disease or structural issues.
“Due to the generosity of our partnership contractor, Continental Landscapes, and the hard work of staff and volunteers, we have been able to plant trees and improve the species and age ranges of wooded areas throughout the town.”
Additional tree planting is scheduled in other areas of South Lakeland over the next few years, in addition to work which is already being carried out by the council through regular tree maintenance.
