Prince Harry has said he “can’t wait” to introduce his wife and son to South Africa, as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed more details about the family’s upcoming trip to Africa.
Harry, Meghan and baby Archie will visit the country this autumn, while the duke will also embark on solo trips to Angola, Malawi and Botswana.
The couple used a post on their Instagram account to talk about the trip, which will be Archie’s first official overseas trip.
“In just a few weeks, our family will be taking its first official tour to Africa, a region of the world that over the past two decades has been a second home to me,” Harry said in a caption accompanying the post.
“Our team has helped create a meaningful programme that we’re so excited to share with you.
“On a personal note, I can’t wait to introduce my wife and son to South Africa! We’ll see all of you very soon.”

The caption continued: “Our monthly social awareness approach follows key accounts that inspire us and highlight those working towards positive change.
“As a lead up to the tour, for the month of September, we wish to celebrate the beauty of this wonderful continent as a whole: from local organisations working hard to better the environment, to the young leaders paving the way for a better future for the Commonwealth and beyond.
“These selected groups are a small representation of the incredible work being done in Africa today from countless people, local communities and organisations.”
Ahead of the visit, the couple have asked people to consider following or supporting more than 20 Instagram accounts.
This includes Sentebale, which was set up by Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho.
The Nelson Mandela Foundation, Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation, African Wildlife Foundation, The Halo Trust and National Geographic are also included in the list.
Harry and Meghan both have a passion for the continent and are said to be looking forward to expanding their knowledge of Africa’s culture and history.
They are admirers of Nelson Mandela and could meet members of the former South African president’s family during the visit, having already met them in the UK.
Harry reportedly whisked Meghan off to Botswana in 2017 to celebrate her 36th birthday, a year after they visited the southern African country in the first few months of their relationship.
Speaking during their engagement interview, Harry said: “I managed to persuade her to come and join me in Botswana.
“And we – we camped out with each other under the stars… she came and joined me for five days out there, which was absolutely fantastic.”
The duke is likely to champion the work of his mother Diana, Princess of Wales, who famously walked through a cleared landmine field in Angola to bring attention to the devastating injuries they can cause.
Sentebale, which helps young people living with HIV and Aids, has recently expanded its work into Malawi and Harry could use the trip to see firsthand the work the charity does.
