Written by on 04/03/2019

Police investigating the fatal stabbing of a 17-year-old boy have seized two mountain bikes close to where he was killed.

Yousef Ghaleb Makki was attacked in a quiet affluent street in Hale Barns, Greater Manchester, on Saturday evening.

Officers were called to Gorse Bank Road at around 6.40pm and the victim, from Burnage, was taken to hospital but died of his injuries.

“His loved ones are being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time,” police said.

Two boys who were arrested on suspicion of murder remain in custody.

Sky News correspondent Frazer Maude said the bikes were impounded by officers close to the scene of the stabbing on Sunday morning.

A police cordon is in place and forensic officers are at the scene.

Superintendent Marcus Noden said: “This investigation is in its very early stages and the circumstances surrounding this young man’s death are still being established.”

He added: “This young man and his family will continue to be at the forefront of our minds throughout this investigation.

“Our thoughts are with his family at this heartbreaking time.”

Greater Manchester Police will operate extra patrols in the area over the next few days.

It comes after 17-year-old Jodie Chesney was killed in an “unprovoked attack” at a children’s play area in Harold Hill, Romford, on Friday night.

Cries of “help me” were heard as the girl was attacked.
