Grant to aid young music lovers

A grant of £2,000 has been given to a Lancaster group which encourages young women to build a career in the music industry.

More Music has been given the grant by Lancashire County Council to help towards staffing, venue hire, award moderation and catering.

The council regularly makes grants available to young people’s groups with the aim of encouraging new skills, improving confidence, and developing independence.

County Councillor Susie Charles, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Schools, said: “Voluntary and community groups do a fantastic job providing activities for young people across Lancashire.

“More Music encourages young women to become involved in the music industry and the funding will help support their activities.

“It’s great that young people also directly have a say on these grants through local youth councils, recommending to our cabinet which projects they think should be funded.”

Any groups that are interested in applying for funding should contact their local district youth council.
